One-Hundred and Eight -- China's Heroes for 2007 Jin Fei Bao has been selected as one of China's One-Hundred and Eight Heroes in 2007. The "One Hundred and Eight Heroes"comes from a famous ancient Chinese novel "One Hundred and Eight Heroes of Outlaws of the Marsh." Among the 2007 heroes, there is Liu Xiang, who won the gold medal in the 110 meters hurdle race in World Track and Field Championship in Japan in August 2007. He created a greats victory for China and Asia in the short-distance races. From gold medal in 2004 Athens Olympic Games to winning the 110 meters hurdles event at the IAAF World Athletics Final in Stuttgart on September 9, 2006. There is Yi Jianlian, China NBA star who is said to become another China symbol in the NBA. And there is Yao Ming, the first China NBA star.
And there is Jin Fei Bao! -- Kunming's New Hero! He was chosen because of the adventure he launched in Kunming in March 2006. Starting from Asia, within one year and 6 months, he crossed Africa, Antarctica, the Oceanic, North America, South America, Europe and the South Pole and North Pole. He became the 11th person in the world to complete 7+2. He created many firsts for Kunming, Yunnan and China during his climbing and adventure. And he became the first person in the world to carry the Olympic flag to the nine extreme spots. He is like the "snow leopard" under the pen of Hemingway, yearning for the high mountains, though there is no food in the high mountains. But he is more vigorous than the "snow leopard", again and again he calmly handled and survived dangerous situations and safely returned. However, "7+2" is not his final goal but a starting point, just as climbing Mt. Everest was his starting point of "7+2". As long as his dreams continue, his steps will not stop.
